Go Write Using This G.O.

If you read my previous post, by now you have a real understanding of my appreciation for guided writing (is appreciation too soft of a word?) After reading a post by my friend and fellow-classmate about the same Gibson article, I was left with the same question as her: Can guided writing work for fiction (and narrative) based writing, as well as informational texts? I had to find out.

I created a graphic organizer to help organize my thoughts. Following the sequence described by Gibson, I developed a guided writing lesson that focuses on the use of onomatopoeia. And guess what? It works! You can definitely use guided writing to help students understand fiction and narrative aspects of writing, as well.

Check it out!
